John Gold

There are so many fun ways to find new music (festivals, magazines, blogs), but the best and most reliable recommendations are always those from friends. My friend John texted me the other day asking if I listen to John Gold, from which I inferred that if I hadn't, I should. . . And I hadn't, so I did.

He suggested the song "cactusflower" from Gold's 2004 album, the eastside shake. It's excellent of course. (Take a listen at left.)

And, per my usual over-enthusiasm, I downloaded both that album and Gold's new album, a flower in your head. (Click the cover art to be directed to Gold's site, where you can download it for yourself at a pick-your-own price.)

Enjoy a couple of my current favorites from that album:

"skyscraper"

"augusta vail"
